Tis the Season! For the past several years, the Austin Cosmopolitan Rotary Club has provided Christmas gifts to a local chapter of Young Lives, an organization that mentors teen moms in the Austin area. We’re looking for your help to keep this project going by choosing to sponsor a mother and her child, purchasing Christmas gifts to make their holidays bright.
How it works:
- Indicate your interest to participate by emailing, Lindsey Hagen: lindsey.hagen@austincrc.org or calling/texting at (512) 925-7908
- You’ll be given a wishlist with the child’s interests and sizes, as well as the interests of the mother.
- Spend $30 MAX on a new outfit for the child, a small toy and a small gift for the mother. **Imporant: ALL gifts must be new** We also encourage you to consider donating a package of diapers and/or wipes for the program’s diaper closet. Best places to shop are Kohls, Target, Marshalls for deals and gifts.
- Gifts will be delivered to the Young LIves Christmas Party on Tuesday, December 3rd. Please let LIndsey know if you’d like to attend/help deliver.
FAQS:
- When will I get the name(s) and info of who I am assigned to shop for?: We expect to have the wishlist by November 15th. Once Lindsey has the wishlists, she’ll assign and notify you via email of whom you will be shopping for. You’ll be provided a wishlist with preferences/likes and sizes.
- Do I have to wrap my gifts? ACRC is holding a wrapping a party at our regular meeting on Thursday, November 21st. If you bring your gift, we’ll have wrapping paper and supplies; though we do encourage you to bring some wrapping supplies if you’re able! If you can’t make the party, we ask that you email Lindsey to coordinate gift drop-off and wrap your gift in advance.
